Edson Mwasabwite - Hakuna Kama Yesu Lyrics

Lyrics

Nataka na mimi niimbe

Nataka na mimi niimbe (imba)

Nataka na mimi niimbe

Hakuna kama Yesu

Acha na mimi niimbe

Acha na mimi niimbe (imba)

Acha na mimi niimbe

Hakuna kama Yesu

Nimezunguka zunguka sana mimi ye

Kutafuta mtu wa kufanana na Yesu

(Oh mimi sijaona )

Nani mwanadamu mwenye huruma kama zake Bwana Yesu

(Oh mimi sijaona)

Anayekubali kuacha vyote kuajili ya mtu mwingine

Oh ni Yesu tu uu (Oh mimi sijaona)

Alikubali kuacha vyote mbinguni kwa Baba yake

Akashuka kwetu (Oh mimi sijaona)

Oh anayefanana kidogo, anayelingana kidogo

Anayemkaribia (Oh mimi sijaona)

Hakuna mwanaume kama Yesu, hakuna mwenye nguvu kama Yesu

Hakuna mkuu kama Yesu (Oh mimi sijaona)

Angalia mambo yake Yesu, matendo yake Yesu

Nguvu zake Yesu (Oh mimi sijaona)

Sijaona kama yeye, kama yeye Bwana

Mponyaji na mwokozi (Oh mimi sijaona)

Oh hakuna kama Yesu, kama Yesu, kama Yesu

Oh mwenye nguvu kama Yesu, kama Yesu sijaona

Oh hakuna kama Yesu, kama Yesu, kama Yesu

Mwenye upendo kama Yesu, kama Yesu, kama Yesu sijaona

Oh hakuna kama Jehovah (aaah), kama Jehovah (eeeh)

Kama Jehovah (Hakuna kama Yesu)

Aliyetufia kalivari (aaah), eeeh (eeeh)

Ili sisi tupone (Hakuna kama Yesu)

Hakuna kama Jehovah(aaah), kama Jehovah (eeeh)

Kama Jehovah (Hakuna kama Yesu)

kama Yesu, (aaah), kama Yesu (eeeh)

Kama Yesu (Hakuna kama Yesu)

Mwenye nguvu mwenye mamlaka (aaah) aa aah

Eeeh , Hakuna kama Yesu

Sijaona kama Yesu, (aaah), kama Yesu (eeeh)

Sijaona mimi(Hakuna kama Yesu)

Anayetupenda anayetujali (aaah) eeh (eeh)

Sijaona mimi, (Hakuna kama Yesu)

Meaning & Inspiration

I’ve been sitting here thinking about that line where he sings about Jesus leaving everything in heaven to come down to us. It hits me differently today. It brings to mind how Paul wrote in Philippians, that He didn't see equality with God as something to hold onto but emptied Himself. When the song keeps saying hakuna kama Yesu—there is no one like Him—it feels like such a simple confession, yet it’s heavy when you actually look at the cost of that. We talk about His love a lot, but the song stops to look at the fact that He actually left the Father’s side to step into our mess. It’s hard to wrap my head around that being true, that the Creator would choose to be the one who suffers for the sake of people who didn't even want Him.

It’s interesting how he keeps saying he’s looked everywhere, he’s searched for someone to compare, and he just can’t find it. It makes me wonder if I really live like I believe that. If there’s truly no one else like Him, why do I spend so much time looking for satisfaction in places that never deliver? The song points to His works, His power, and that specific mention of Calvary—where He died so we could be healed. It’s the core of the whole thing. If that’s not the center, the song is just words, right? But if He really died so we could have life, then the claim that there is no one else like Him isn't just a catchy chorus. It’s a reality that demands everything else in my life take a backseat. I don't know, maybe I’m overthinking it, but it feels like the song is asking me to decide if He’s actually incomparable or if He’s just someone I sing about when the music is playing. It’s not a comfortable thought, really.
