Meaning & Inspiration

This is a call-and-response praise chant built on short, rhythmic lines, each followed by an echo from the group. It opens by hailing Jesus as King and Lord, then links that title to daily life with the lines "I will praise You all my days" and "Not my will but Yours be done."

The later verses move to victory language. Jesus is named as the Lamb and as the Lion of Judah, and the lyrics say that He "breaks every chain." The singers describe themselves as conquering in His name and proclaiming that Jesus reigns, which places the triumph in Christ rather than in human strength.

The structure suits a congregation or choir, since the echo parts invite the whole room to answer. The repeated hailing of Jesus gives the piece the feel of a processional shout of praise, and its images of the Lamb and the Lion echo the book of Revelation.
