Meaning & Inspiration
“Thank You” by Delana Hope is a gospel song of thanks looking back over a life. The first verse says that if the singer had ten thousand tongues it still would not be enough to say how grateful he is, which recalls the hymn line about a thousand tongues. He admits days of lost strength and sleepless nights, yet through it all God never stopped being God.
The chorus lists what he is thankful for: every mountain moved, every door opened, mercy not deserved, and grace that kept finding him when he thought he was too far gone. This is close to Ephesians 2:4-5 and Psalm 40:2.
The second verse says that some of the things he cried about were the things God used to help him grow, near Romans 8:28. The bridge thanks God for answered prayers, protection from unseen things, and being carried. The outro repeats thanks. The tone is humble and grateful.
