Meaning & Inspiration
“He’s Able” by Deitrick Haddon is a live praise song built on Ephesians 3:20, which the leader recites at the start: “Exceedingly, abundantly above all you could ask or think, according to the power that worketh in you.” The chorus then states the claim plainly: God is able to do what He said He would do and to fulfill every promise.
The line “Don’t give up on God, ’cause He won’t give up on you” gives the song its encouragement, and the leader asks if anyone has ever wanted to throw in the towel. The vamp turns into call and response, with the choir repeating “He’s able” while the leader adds that whatever He said and promised, He will do. The line “He’s not a man that He’d lie” is close to Numbers 23:19.
