Meaning & Inspiration
I See Jesus is a song built on John's vision of Christ in Revelation. The first verse describes a voice like rushing waters, hair like purest snow, eyes like flames of fire and feet like bronze, and the pre-chorus adds blinding light from His face and a two-edged blade from His mouth, naming the wonder with one Name. The chorus simply repeats the name Jesus and the line "I see Jesus."
The second verse and pre-chorus gather titles: Alpha and Omega, the first and the last, the Lion and the Lamb, the Root and branch of David, the bright and morning star, the Word of God and the Amen. The images come from Revelation 1:12-16, Revelation 22:13, Revelation 22:16 and Revelation 5:5-6. Reflective, reverent and highly repetitive, the song works well for quiet adoration.
