Meaning & Inspiration
“You Have Made Me Glad” by Charity Gayle is a worship song drawn closely from Psalm 92. The first verse gives thanks to the Lord and sings praise to the name of the Most High, declaring His love in the morning and His faithfulness by night. The chorus then says that He has made the singer glad, so she will sing for joy at the works of His hand.
The bridge repeats “Oh Lord, how great are Your works” and answers each time with “You have made me glad,” and near the end the singer says she cannot help but praise. The second verse shifts to trust: God is on her side, she can rest and she will not be defeated, because He is the strength of her life.
The outro lifts the name of Jesus and ends on rejoicing. The wording is close to Psalm 92:1-5 and to Psalm 27:1, which calls the Lord the strength of life. Romans 8:31 also says that God is for His people. The song is repetitive and suited to congregational singing.
