Lyrics
Verse 1
Kulikuwa na vita mbinguni
Malaika wa Mungu
Walipigana na yule joka
Adui wa imani
Wakamshinda kwa neno la ushuhuda
Wakamshinda kwa damu ya mwanakondoo
Chorus
Ameshinda Yesu kifo na kaburi
Ameshinda Yesu mfalme wa amani
Halleluya Halleluya
Halleluya Halleluya
Verse 2
Tumeingia kwenye agano
Agano la milele
Tumewekewa muhuri kwa damu
Damu ya mwanakondoo
Upande wetu sisi ni washindi
Tumeshinda pamoja naye
Kwa kumuamini Yesu kaingia moyoni
Tutatawala pamoja naye
Chorus (Repeat)
Ameshinda Yesu kifo na kaburi
Ameshinda Yesu mfalme wa amani
Halleluya Halleluya
Halleluya Halleluya
Verse 3
Alizidi enzi mamlaka
Kagongemelewa msalabani
Akaziuia mkoko alipokuwa Goligotha
Adhabu Ya Mungu kwa wanadamu
Ilikuwa begani mwake
Na kwa kupigwa kwake sisi tumepona
Ushindi tunao
Chorus (Repeat)
Ameshinda Yesu kifo na kaburi
Ameshinda Yesu mfalme wa amani
Halleluya Halleluya
Halleluya Halleluya
Verse 4
Habari njema zienee
Mataifa yasikie
Mfalme wetu Yesu kristo
Ameshinda kifo na kaburi
Wivu wa Mungu umezidi
Alikumbuka agano lake
Yametimia mikononi mwake
Yesu mwana wa Mungu
Chorus (Repeat)
Ameshinda Yesu kifo na kaburi
Ameshinda Yesu mfalme wa amani

Meaning & Inspiration
“Ameshinda Yesu” by Boaz Danken is a Swahili song proclaiming that Jesus has conquered death and the grave. The title means “Jesus has won.” The first verse retells Revelation 12, with war in heaven, the angels fighting the dragon, and the enemy overcome by the word of testimony and the blood of the Lamb, as in Revelation 12:7-11.
The chorus repeats that Jesus has overcome death and the grave and is the king of peace. The second verse speaks of an everlasting covenant sealed with the blood of the Lamb, in which believers are winners with Him and will reign with Him. The third verse moves to the cross and Golgotha, saying that God’s punishment for humanity fell on his shoulders and “by his stripes we are healed,” close to Isaiah 53:5.
The last verse calls the good news to spread to the nations and points back to Genesis 3:15, where the seed of the woman will crush the serpent’s head. The song’s message is that Christ’s victory is complete and is shared with His people.
