About Darlene Zschech
Darlene Zschech is an Australian Christian worship leader, singer, songwriter, author, and speaker known for her contributions to contemporary worship music. Born on September 8, 1965, in Brisbane, Australia, she began her career with a background in commercial music before transitioning into full-time worship ministry. She served as the worship pastor of Hillsong Church in Sydney, Australia, from 1996 to 2007, helping to shape the sound of modern congregational singing.
Her song “Shout to the Lord” became one of the most widely sung worship choruses of its era. The recording was nominated for Album of the Year at the 1997 Dove Awards, and the song itself was nominated for Song of the Year in 1998. Zschech was also nominated for Songwriter of the Year at the 2000 Dove Awards, and she received the Gospel Music Association’s International Award for her influence in praise and worship.
Beyond Hillsong, Zschech and her husband, Mark Zschech, serve as senior pastors at Hope Unlimited Church in New South Wales, Australia. She has authored several books, including Worship, Extravagant Worship, and The Kiss of Heaven, and has released multiple albums, such as Kiss of Heaven, Change Your World, Revealing Jesus, and Here I Am, Send Me.
