Lyrics
I have never walked alone
You were with me through it all
Broken hearts and broken bones
You have always held me close
There's no place that I could go
Heavens high or hell below
I have lived enough to know
Anywhere with You is home
Hallelujah, Christ the Lord is with me
Hallelujah, Christ the Lord is with me
Hallelujah, Christ the Lord is with me
Now I live with confidence
That nothing in my universe
Could ever separate me from
Jesus, everlasting love
There's no height and there's no depth
True in life and true in death
You keep Your covenant
Great will be Your faithfulness
Hallelujah, Christ the Lord is with me
Hallelujah, Christ the Lord is with me
Hallelujah, Christ the Lord is with me
Christ the Lord is with me
Christ the Lord is with me
Hallelujah, Christ the Lord is with me
Hallelujah, Christ the Lord is with me
Hallelujah, Christ the Lord is with me
Hallelujah, Christ the Lord is with us
Hallelujah, Christ the Lord is with us
Hallelujah, Christ the Lord is with us

Meaning & Inspiration
“Christ the Lord Is with Me” centers on the assurance of divine presence through suffering, uncertainty, life, and death. Images of broken hearts and broken bones give the confession practical weight: companionship with Christ is presented not as an escape from hardship, but as security within it. The repeated hallelujah turns that confidence into worship, while the statement that anywhere with Christ is home gives the song a clear emotional center.
The second movement closely echoes Romans 8:38–39, where neither height nor depth nor anything else in creation can separate believers from the love of God in Christ. Its language of covenant and faithfulness also recalls the biblical portrait of a God who keeps his promises. By moving from “with me” to “with us,” the closing refrain widens a personal confession into a communal declaration. The result is a worship song shaped by endurance, belonging, and trust in the constancy of Jesus’ love.
