Nikawakusanya penye mto ushukao kwenda Ahava; na huko tukapiga kambi yetu muda wa siku tatu; nikawakagua watu, na makuhani, wala sikuona hapo wana wa Lawi hata mmoja.
Now I assembled these exiles at the canal that flows to Ahava, and we camped there three days. And when I searched among the people and priests, I found no Levites there.

Ndipo nikatuma watu kwenda kumwita Eliezeri, na Arieli, na Shemaya, na Elnathani, na Yaribu, na Elnathani, na Nathani, na Zekaria, na Meshulamu, waliokuwa wakuu; na Yoyaribu, na Elnathani pia, waliokuwa waalimu.
Then I summoned the leaders: Eliezer, Ariel, Shemaiah, Elnathan, Jarib, Elnathan, Nathan, Zechariah, and Meshullam, as well as the teachers Joiarib and Elnathan.

Nikawapeleka kwa Ido, mkuu, huko Kasifia; nikawaambia watakayomwambia Ido, na ndugu zake hao Wanethini, huko Kasifia, kwamba watuletee watu watakaohudumu katika nyumba ya Mungu wetu.
And I sent them to Iddo, the leader at Casiphia, with a message for him and his kinsmen, the temple servants at Casiphia, that they should bring to us ministers for the house of our God.

Na kama mkono mwema wa Mungu wetu ulivyokuwa pamoja nasi, wakamletea Ishekeli, mmoja wa wana wa Mali ,mwana wa Lawi, mwana wa Israeli;na Sherebia ,pamoja na wanawe na ndugu zake ,watu kumi na wanawe.
And since the gracious hand of our God was upon us, they brought us Sherebiah—a man of insight from the descendants of Mahli son of Levi, the son of Israel—along with his sons and brothers, 18 men;

na Hashabia, na pamoja naye Yeshaya, wa wana wa Merari, na ndugu zake na wana wao, watu ishirini;
also Hashabiah, together with Jeshaiah, from the descendants of Merari, and his brothers and their sons, 20 men.

na katika Wanethini, ambao Daudi, na wakuu, walikuwa wamewaweka kwa ajili ya utumishi wa Walawi, Wanethini mia mbili na ishirini; wote wametajwa kwa majina yao.
They also brought 220 of the temple servants, all designated by name. David and the officials had appointed them to assist the Levites.

Ndipo nikaamuru kufunga, hapo penye mto Ahava, ili tupate kujinyenyekeza mbele za Mungu, na kutafuta kwake njia iliyonyoka, kwa ajili yetu sisi wenyewe, na kwa ajili ya watoto wetu, na kwa mali yetu yote.
And there by the Ahava Canal I proclaimed a fast, so that we might humble ourselves before our God and ask Him for a safe journey for us and our children, with all our possessions.

Maana naliona haya kumwomba mfalme kikosi cha askari na wapanda farasi, ili kutusaidia juu ya adui njiani; kwa maana tulikuwa tumesema na mfalme, tukinena, Mkono wa Mungu u juu ya watu wote wamtafutao, kuwatendea mema; bali uweza wake na ghadhabu yake ni kinyume cha wote wamwachao.
For I was ashamed to ask the king for an escort of soldiers and horsemen to protect us from our enemies on the road, since we had told him, “The hand of our God is gracious to all who seek Him, but His great anger is against all who forsake Him.”

Basi tukafunga, tukamsihi Mungu wetu kwa ajili ya hayo; naye akatutakabali.
So we fasted and petitioned our God about this, and He granted our request.

Ndipo nikawatenga watu kumi na wawili wa wakuu wa makuhani, nao ni Sherebia, na Hashabia, na watu kumi wa ndugu zao pamoja nao,
Then I set apart twelve of the leading priests, together with Sherebiah, Hashabiah, and ten of their brothers,

nami nikawapimia kwa mizani zile fedha, na dhahabu, na vile vyombo, matoleo kwa ajili ya nyumba ya Mungu wetu, ambayo mfalme, na washauri wake, na wakuu wake, na Israeli wote waliokuwapo, walikuwa wameyatoa;
and I weighed out to them the contribution of silver and gold and the articles that the king, his counselors, his leaders, and all the Israelites there had offered for the house of our God.

I weighed out into their hands 650 talents of silver, articles of silver weighing 100 talents, 100 talents of gold,

na mabakuli ishirini ya dhahabu, thamani yake darkoni elfu; na vyombo viwili vya shaba nzuri iliyong'aa, thamani yake sawa na dhahabu.
20 gold bowls valued at 1,000 darics, and two articles of fine polished bronze, as precious as gold.

Kisha nikawaambia, Ninyi mmekuwa watakatifu kwa Bwana, na hivyo vyombo ni vitakatifu; na fedha na dhahabu ni matoleo ya hiari kwa Bwana, Mungu wa baba zenu.
Then I told them, “You are holy to the LORD, and these articles are holy. The silver and gold are a freewill offering to the LORD, the God of your fathers.

Basi, angalieni, na kuvitunza vitu hivi, hata mtakapovipima mbele ya wakuu wa makuhani, na Walawi, na wakuu wa mbari za mababa wa Israeli, huko Yerusalemu, katika vyumba vya nyumba ya Bwana.
Guard them carefully until you weigh them out in the chambers of the house of the LORD in Jerusalem before the leading priests, Levites, and heads of the Israelite families.”

Hivyo makuhani na Walawi wakaupokea uzani wa fedha, na dhahabu, na vyombo, ili kuvileta Yerusalemu nyumbani kwa Mungu wetu.
So the priests and Levites took charge of the silver and gold and sacred articles that had been weighed out to be taken to the house of our God in Jerusalem.

Ndipo tukasafiri toka mtoni Ahava siku ya kumi na mbili ya mwezi wa kwanza, ili kwenda Yerusalemu; na mkono wa Mungu ulikuwa pamoja nasi, akatuokoa na mkono wa adui, na mtu mwenye kutuvizia njiani.
On the twelfth day of the first month we set out from the Ahava Canal to go to Jerusalem, and the hand of our God was upon us to protect us from the hands of the enemies and bandits along the way.

Tukafika Yerusalemu, tukakaa huko muda wa siku tatu.
So we arrived at Jerusalem and rested there for three days.

Hata siku ya nne, hizo fedha na dhahabu na vile vyombo vilipimwa ndani ya nyumba ya Mungu, vikatiwa mikononi mwa Meremothi, mwana wa Uria, kuhani; na pamoja naye alikuwapo Eleazari, mwana wa Finehasi; na pamoja nao Yozabadi, mwana wa Yeshua, na Noadia, mwana wa Binui, Walawi;
On the fourth day, in the house of our God, we weighed out the silver and gold and sacred articles into the hand of Meremoth son of Uriah, the priest. Eleazar son of Phinehas was with him, along with the Levites Jozabad son of Jeshua and Noadiah son of Binnui.

vile vyombo vyote kwa hesabu na kwa uzani; tena uzani wake wote uliandikwa wakati ule.
Everything was verified by number and weight, and the total weight was recorded at that time.

Na wana wa uhamisho, waliokuwa wametoka katika uhamisho wakamtolea Mungu wa Israeli sadaka za kuteketezwa, ng'ombe kumi na wawili kwa ajili ya Israeli wote, na kondoo waume tisini na sita, na wana-kondoo sabini na saba, na mbuzi waume kumi na wawili, kuwa sadaka ya dhambi, hao wote pia walikuwa sadaka ya kuteketezwa kwa Bwana.
Then the exiles who had returned from captivity sacrificed burnt offerings to the God of Israel: 12 bulls for all Israel, 96 rams, 77 lambs, and a sin offering of 12 male goats. All this was a burnt offering to the LORD.

Wakawapa manaibu wa mfalme, na maliwali wa ng'ambo ya Mto, maagizo ya mfalme; nao wakawapa watu, na nyumba ya Mungu, msaada.
They also delivered the king’s edicts to the royal satraps and governors of the region west of the Euphrates, who proceeded to assist the people and the house of God.
