Haya ndiyo aliyonionyesha Bwana MUNGU; tazama, aliumba nzige mwanzo wa kuchipuka kwake mimea wakati wa vuli; na tazama, ilikuwa mimea ya wakati wa vuli baada ya mavuno ya mfalme.
This is what the Lord GOD showed me: He was preparing swarms of locusts just after the king’s harvest, as the late spring crop was coming up.

Ikawa, nzige walipokwisha kula majani ya nchi, ndipo nikasema, Ee Bwana MUNGU, samehe, nakusihi; Yakobo atasimamaje? Kwa maana ni mdogo.
And when the locusts had eaten every green plant in the land, I said, “Lord GOD, please forgive! How will Jacob survive, since he is so small?”

Bwana akaghairi katika jambo hili. Jambo hili halitakuwa, asema Bwana.
So the LORD relented from this plan. “It will not happen,” He said.

Haya ndiyo aliyonionyesha Bwana MUNGU; tazama, Bwana MUNGU aliita ili kushindana kwa moto; nao ukavila vilindi vikuu, ukataka kuiteketeza nchi kavu.
This is what the Lord GOD showed me: The Lord GOD was calling for judgment by fire. It consumed the great deep and devoured the land.

Ndipo nikasema, Ee Bwana MUNGU, acha, nakusihi; Yakobo atasimamaje? Kwa maana ni mdogo.
Then I said, “Lord GOD, please stop! How will Jacob survive, since he is so small?”

Bwana akaghairi katika jambo hili pia. Jambo hili halitakuwa, asema Bwana MUNGU.
So the LORD relented from this plan. “It will not happen either,” said the Lord GOD.

Haya ndiyo aliyonionyesha; na tazama, Bwana alisimama karibu na ukuta uliojengwa kwa timazi, mwenye timazi mkononi mwake.
This is what He showed me: Behold, the Lord was standing by a wall true to plumb, with a plumb line in His hand.

Bwana akaniambia, Amosii, unaona nini? Nikasema, Naona timazi. Ndipo Bwana akasema, Tazama, nitaweka timazi kati ya watu wangu Israeli; sitawapita tena kamwe;
“Amos, what do you see?” asked the LORD. “A plumb line,” I replied. “Behold,” said the Lord, “I am setting a plumb line among My people Israel; I will no longer spare them:

na mahali palipoinuka pa Isaka patakuwa ukiwa, na mahali patakatifu pa Israeli pataharibika; nami nitaondoka nishindane na nyumba ya Yeroboamu kwa upanga.
The high places of Isaac will be deserted, and the sanctuaries of Israel will be laid waste; and I will rise up against the house of Jeroboam with My sword.”

Ndipo Amazia, kuhani wa Betheli, akapeleka habari kwa Yeroboamu, mfalme wa Israeli, akisema, Amosii amefanya fitina juu yako kati ya nyumba ya Israeli; nchi haiwezi kustahimili maneno yake yote.
Then Amaziah the priest of Bethel sent word to Jeroboam king of Israel, saying, “Amos has conspired against you in the midst of the house of Israel. The land cannot bear all his words,

Kwa maana Amosii asema hivi, Yeroboamu atakufa kwa upanga, na bila shaka Israeli atachukuliwa mbali, hali ya kufungwa, atoke katika nchi yake.
for this is what Amos has said: ‘Jeroboam will die by the sword, and Israel will surely go into exile, away from their homeland.’”

Tena Amazia akamwambia Amosii, Ewe mwonaji, nenda zako, ikimbilie nchi ya Yuda, ukale mkate huko, ukatabiri huko;
And Amaziah said to Amos, “Go away, you seer! Flee to the land of Judah; earn your bread there and do your prophesying there.

lakini usitabiri tena huku Betheli; kwa maana ni mahali patakatifu pa mfalme, nayo ni nyumba ya kifalme.
But never prophesy at Bethel again, because it is the sanctuary of the king and the temple of the kingdom.”

Ndipo Amosii akajibu akamwambia Amazia, Mimi sikuwa nabii, wala sikuwa mwana wa nabii; bali nalikuwa mchungaji, na mtunza mikuyu;
“I was not a prophet,” Amos replied, “nor was I the son of a prophet; rather, I was a herdsman and a tender of sycamore-fig trees.

naye Bwana akanitwaa, katika kufuatana na kundi; Bwana akaniambia, Enenda uwatabirie watu wangu Israeli.
But the LORD took me from following the flock and said to me, ‘Go, prophesy to My people Israel.’

Basi, sasa lisikie neno la Bwana; Wewe unasema, Usitabiri juu ya Israeli, wala usitoe neno lako juu ya nyumba ya Isaka;
Now, therefore, hear the word of the LORD. You say: ‘Do not prophesy against Israel; do not preach against the house of Isaac.’

kwa hiyo, Bwana asema hivi, Mke wako atakuwa kahaba mjini, na wana wako na binti zako wataanguka kwa upanga, na shamba lako litagawanywa kwa kamba; na wewe mwenyewe utakufa katika nchi iliyo najisi; na bila shaka Israeli atachukuliwa mbali hali ya kufungwa kutoka nchi yake.
Therefore this is what the LORD says: ‘Your wife will become a prostitute in the city, and your sons and daughters will fall by the sword. Your land will be divided by a measuring line, and you yourself will die on pagan soil. And Israel will surely go into exile, away from their homeland.’”
