Ndipo Bwana akamtuma Nathani aende kwa Daudi. Naye akamwendea, akamwambia, Palikuwa na watu wawili katika mji mmoja; mmoja wao alikuwa tajiri, wa pili maskini.
Then the LORD sent Nathan to David, and when he arrived, he said, “There were two men in a certain city, one rich and the other poor.

Yule tajiri alikuwa na kondoo na ng'ombe wengi sana;
The rich man had a great number of sheep and cattle,

bali yule maskini hakuwa na kitu, ila mwana kondoo mmoja, mdogo, ambaye amemnunua na kumlea; naye akakua pamoja naye, na pamoja na wanawe; hula sehemu ya posho lake, na kukinywea kikombe chake, na kulala kifuani mwake, akawa kwake kama binti.
but the poor man had nothing except one small ewe lamb that he had bought. He raised it, and it grew up with him and his children. It shared his food and drank from his cup; it slept in his arms and was like a daughter to him.

Hata msafiri mmoja akamfikilia yule tajiri, naye akaacha kutwaa mmoja wa kondoo zake mwenyewe au mmoja wa ng'ombe zake mwenyewe, ili kumwandalia yule msafiri aliyemfikilia, bali alimnyang'anya yule maskini mwana-kondoo wake, akamwandalia yule mtu aliyemfikilia.
Now a traveler came to the rich man, who refrained from taking one of his own sheep or cattle to prepare for the traveler who had come to him. Instead, he took the poor man’s lamb and prepared it for his guest.”

Ndipo hasira ya Daudi ikawaka sana juu ya mtu yule; akamwambia Nathani, Aishivyo Bwana, mtu huyo aliyetenda jambo hili, hakika yake astahili kufa;
David burned with anger against the man and said to Nathan: “As surely as the LORD lives, the man who did this deserves to die!

naye atamrudishia yule mwana-kondoo mara nne, kwa sababu ametenda neno hili, na kwa sababu hakuwa na huruma.
Because he has done this thing and has shown no pity, he must pay for the lamb four times over.”

Basi Nathani akamwambia Daudi, Wewe ndiwe mtu huyo. Bwana, Mungu wa Israeli, asema hivi, Nalikutia mafuta, uwe mfalme juu ya Israeli, nikakuokoa na mkono wa Sauli;
Then Nathan said to David, “You are that man! This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: ‘I anointed you king over Israel, and I delivered you from the hand of Saul.

nami nikakupa nyumba ya bwana wako, na wake za bwana wako kifuani mwako; nikakupa nyumba ya Israeli na ya Yuda; na kama hayo yangalikuwa machache, ningalikuongezea mambo kadha wa kadha.
I gave your master’s house to you and your master’s wives into your arms. I gave you the house of Israel and Judah, and if that was not enough, I would have given you even more.

Kwa nini umelidharau neno la Bwana, na kufanya yaliyo mabaya machoni pake? Umempiga Uria, Mhiti, kwa upanga, nawe umemtwaa mkewe awe mke wako, nawe umemwua huyo kwa upanga wa wana wa Amoni.
Why then have you despised the command of the LORD by doing evil in His sight? You put Uriah the Hittite to the sword and took his wife as your own. You have slain him with the sword of the Ammonites.

Basi, sasa upanga hautaondoka nyumbani mwako, kwa sababu umenidharau, ukamtwaa mkewe Uria, Mhiti, kuwa mke wako.
Now, therefore, the sword will never depart from your house, because you have despised Me and have taken the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be your own.’

Bwana asema hivi, Angalia, nitakuondokeshea uovu katika nyumba yako, nami nitawatwaa wake zako mbele ya macho yako, na kumpa jirani yako, naye atalala na wake zako mbele ya jua hili.
This is what the LORD says: ‘I will raise up adversity against you from your own house. Before your very eyes I will take your wives and give them to another, and he will lie with them in broad daylight.

Maana wewe ulifanya jambo lile kwa siri; bali mimi nitalifanya jambo hili mbele ya Israeli wote na mbele ya jua.
You have acted in secret, but I will do this thing in broad daylight before all Israel.’”

Daudi akamwambia Nathani, Nimemfanyia Bwana dhambi. Nathani akamwambia Daudi, Bwana naye ameiondoa dhambi yako; hutakufa.
Then David said to Nathan, “I have sinned against the LORD.” “The LORD has taken away your sin,” Nathan replied. “You will not die.

Lakini, kwa kuwa kwa tendo hili umewapa adui za Bwana nafasi kubwa ya kukufuru, mtoto atakayezaliwa kwako hakika yake atakufa.
Nevertheless, because by this deed you have shown utter contempt for the word of the LORD, the son born to you will surely die.”

Naye Nathani akaondoka kwenda nyumbani kwake. Basi Bwana akampiga yule mtoto ambaye mkewe Uria alimzalia Daudi naye akawa hawezi sana.
After Nathan had gone home, the LORD struck the child that Uriah’s wife had borne to David, and he became ill.

Basi Daudi akamwomba Mungu kwa ajili ya mtoto; Daudi akafunga, akaingia, akalala usiku kucha chini.
David pleaded with God for the boy. He fasted and went into his house and spent the night lying in sackcloth on the ground.
17
Nao wazee wa nyumba yake wakaondoka, wakasimama karibu naye, ili wamwinue katika nchi; lakini hakukubali, wala hakula chakula pamoja nao.
The elders of his household stood beside him to help him up from the ground, but he was unwilling and would not eat anything with them.
18
Ikawa siku ya saba, yule mtoto akafa. Nao watumishi wa Daudi wakaogopa kumwambia ya kuwa mtoto amekufa, maana, walisema, Angalieni, yule mtoto alipokuwa angali hai, tulisema naye, asitusikilize sauti zetu; basi hatazidi kujisumbua, tukimwambia ya kuwa mtoto amekufa?
On the seventh day the child died. But David’s servants were afraid to tell him that the child was dead, for they said, “Look, while the child was alive, we spoke to him, and he would not listen to us. So how can we tell him the child is dead? He may even harm himself.”

Lakini alipoona ya kuwa watumishi wake wananong'onezana, Daudi alitambua ya kuwa mtoto amekufa; basi Daudi akawauliza watumishi wake, Je! Mtoto amekufa? Nao wakasema, Amekufa.
When David saw that his servants were whispering to one another, he perceived that the child was dead. So he asked his servants, “Is the child dead?” “He is dead,” they replied.

Ndipo Daudi akainuka pale chini akaoga, akajipaka mafuta, akabadili mavazi yake; akaingia nyumbani mwa Bwana, akasali; kisha akaenda nyumbani kwake, na alipotaka wakamwandalia chakula, naye akala.
Then David got up from the ground, washed and anointed himself, changed his clothes, and went into the house of the LORD and worshiped. Then he went to his own house, and at his request they set food before him, and he ate.
21
Watumishi wake wakamwambia, Ni neno gani hili ulilolitenda? Ulifunga na kulia kwa ajili ya mtoto, alipokuwa hai; lakini mtoto alipokuwa amekufa, uliinuka ukala chakula.
“What is this you have done?” his servants asked. “While the child was alive, you fasted and wept, but when he died, you got up and ate.”

Akasema, Mtoto alipokuwa hai, nalifunga, nikalia; kwa maana nalisema, Ni nani ajuaye kwamba Bwana atanihurumia, mtoto apate kuishi?
David answered, “While the child was alive, I fasted and wept, for I said, ‘Who knows? The LORD may be gracious to me and let him live.’

Lakini sasa amekufa nifungie nini? Je! Naweza kumrudisha tena? Mimi nitakwenda kwake lakini yeye hatanirudia mimi.
But now that he is dead, why should I fast? Can I bring him back again? I will go to him, but he will not return to me.”

Naye Daudi akamfariji Bath-sheba mkewe, akaingia kwake, akalala naye; naye akazaa mwana, akamwita jina lake Sulemani. Naye Bwana akampenda;
Then David comforted his wife Bathsheba, and he went to her and lay with her. So she gave birth to a son, and they named him Solomon. Now the LORD loved the child

akapeleka kwa mkono wa Nathani, nabii, naye akamwita jina lake Yedidia, kwa ajili ya Bwana.
and sent word through Nathan the prophet to name him Jedidiah because the LORD loved him.
26
Yoabu akapigana juu ya Raba wa wana wa Amoni, akautwaa mji wa kifalme.
Meanwhile, Joab fought against Rabbah of the Ammonites and captured the royal fortress.
27
Yoabu akatuma wajumbe waende kwa Daudi, kusema Nimeshindana na Raba, hata nimeutwaa huo mji wa maji.
Then Joab sent messengers to David to say, “I have fought against Rabbah and have captured the water supply of the city.
28
Basi sasa kusanya watu waliobaki, ukauzunguke mji, na kuutwaa; nisije mimi nikautwaa mji, ukaitwe jina langu.
Now, therefore, assemble the rest of the troops, lay siege to the city, and capture it. Otherwise I will capture the city, and it will be named after me.”

Basi Daudi akawakusanya watu wote akaenda Raba, akapigana nao, akautwaa.
So David assembled all the troops and went to Rabbah; and he fought against it and captured it.
30
Kisha akamnyang'anya mfalme wao taji toka kichwani pake; na uzani wake ulikuwa talanta ya dhahabu, nayo ilikuwa na vito vya thamani ndani yake; akavikwa Daudi kichwani. Akazitoa nyara za huo mji, nyingi sana.
Then he took the crown from the head of their king. It weighed a talent of gold and was set with precious stones, and it was placed on David’s head. And David took a great amount of plunder from the city.

Naye akawatoa watu waliokuwamo, akawaweka kwenye kazi ya misumeno,na sululu za chuma,na mashoka ya chuma,akawatumikisha,tanuuni mwa matofali ndivyo alivyoifanya miji yote ya wana wa Amoni.Kisha Daudi akarudi na watu wote Yerusalemu.
David brought out the people who were there and put them to work with saws, iron picks, and axes, and he made them work at the brick kilns. He did the same to all the Ammonite cities. Then David and all his troops returned to Jerusalem.
