Meaning & Inspiration
“Hold My Hand” by Victor Ivyic is a prayer to the Holy Spirit from someone who has tried to walk alone and failed. The song opens with “Holy Spirit, it is me again,” and the first verse admits walking in shadows, choosing a path and falling away, and being tired of learning lessons from mistakes. The repeated request is simply, “Hold my hand.”
The second verse confesses silent tears that no one sees, but says the Spirit sees the truth inside and is the reason the singer survives. The bridge is urgent, with a cry that he is sinking, has tried his own way and fails each day, and that only grace can lead him through to the Promised Land.
The last verse confesses trusting in the flesh, and says that mercy finds a way even in darkness. The ending asks to be covered in the holy flame.
