Lyrics
Everywhere that I go, you are always with me
At the top of my lowest, you're closer than close
God you're never too far from me
No you're never too far from me
You're just one worship away
You were right when I left
Still your grace pursued me
In the night you still cover me, when I fall
Lord you're never too far from me
No you're never too far from me
You're just one worship away
One worship away
You're not a man who would lie to me
You'll never leave
There's no need to fear
When you are near
To the broken there is always a door open for You
There's no need to fear
When you are
Not a man who would lie to me
You'll never leave
There's no need to fear
You are near
To the broken there is always a door open for You
There's no need to fear when you are near
Yeah
I know for myself that you are hear
Right in the middle of it
You are closer than close
There is no distance with us
My heart is yours
And you are closer than close
There is no distance with us
I am yours
You are Closer than close
There is no distance with us
Heart is yours
You are Closer than close
There is no distance with us
I am yours and you are
Not a man who would lie to me
You'll never leave
There's no need to fear
You are near
To the broken there is always a door open for You
No need to fear
You are closer than close
There is no distance with us
Heart is yours
And you are Closer than close
There is no distance with us
I am yours
And you are Closer than close
There is no distance with us
Heart is yours
You are closer than close
There is no distance with us
I am yours and you are
Not a man who would lie to me
You'll never leave
There's no need to fear
When you are near
To the broken there is always a word spoken for You
There's no need to fear
You are near
You are
You're here, you're here
That's not something somebody told me
I know for myself
You are
You're here with me
You're here with me
Even when I turn my back, I know you're here to stay
You're never away from me
You are closer than close
There is no distance with us
My heart is yours
And you are Closer than close
There is no distance with us
I am yours
You are close (Closer than close)
I am yours
You are close
I am close
You are close
I am close
You are close
I am yours
You are close
Not a man who would lie to me
You'll never leave
There's no need to fear
When he is here
To the broken there is always a word spoken for You
There's no need to fear
You are here

Meaning & Inspiration
Near centers on the assurance that God remains present through failure, fear, and brokenness. The opening lines place that presence in every location, even at the lowest point, and describe grace as pursuing the person who has wandered. Worship becomes the response to a God who is not distant, while the repeated phrase closer than close gives the song its steady confession of intimacy and belonging.
The declaration that God is not a man who lies closely echoes the language of Numbers, connecting divine nearness with divine reliability. The promise that God will never leave also supports the refrain that fear loses its claim when God is near. Later repetitions move from general assurance to personal testimony: the singer knows that God is present, staying even when the singer turns away. References to an open door and a word for the broken add welcome and consolation to the theme. Across its repeated lines, the song presents worship as trust in a faithful God whose presence is constant rather than earned.
