Save Me (Psalm 3) is a setting of Psalm 3 as a prayer for rescue. The verse speaks of many enemies rising like arrows to accuse the soul and say there is no hope, but the singer knows better, because the Lord is a shield and defense and the lifter of the head. The refrain pleads for salvation, asking the Lord to arise from His dwelling and save.
A later verse says that though surrounded by thousands, the singer will not fear, since the cry to the Father is answered. A long repeated section affirms that salvation belongs to the Lord, with blessing, honor and power forever, a line taken from Psalm 3:8 and Revelation 7:12. The structure follows Psalm 3:1-8, with Psalm 3:3 on the shield and lifter of the head. Repetition lets a congregation pray the psalm with confidence.
