Meaning & Inspiration
“Ũtugi wa Magegania” by Allan Sucre and Rebekah Dawn is a worship song in Kikuyu about grace that saves. The lyric describes this grace as having rescued the singer, opening the eyes and teaching trust in God. It also speaks of a time of weak heart and lack of faith, when dangers were many and trials came.
The chorus says that the same grace will bring the singer and the congregation to God, that the Lord has given many blessings, and that the singer trusts His word with all of life. The song then looks toward rejoicing and praising the Almighty for thousands of years, and the ending repeats a blessing on the Lord and on Jesus.
The themes are close to Ephesians 2:8, 2 Corinthians 12:9 and Psalm 103:1-2, on being saved by grace, strength in weakness and blessing the Lord. The wording here is a cautious summary of the song, which is sung in Kikuyu.
