Meaning & Inspiration
“God Did It” by Planetshakers is an exuberant song of praise built on thanks and shouted hallelujahs. It begins with the claim that God does impossible things and that this makes the singer want to dance and sing, answered each time with “Praise the Lord.” The congregation then testifies that He has done great things and gathers to sing.
The repeated “Thank You” and “Praise You” lines are simple, and the leader counts in the group with “1 2 3 go.” The statement that God has done great things is close to Psalm 126:3, and the call to dance and sing recalls Psalm 149:3.
The bridge lists what God did: He made a way, saved the day, and turned it around, and the people answer in an echo before declaring that their God is great. That wording echoes Isaiah 43:19, where God makes a way. The song is a party-style thanksgiving that credits God for every breakthrough.
