New Wine Worship - Holy Spirit Come Lyrics
Lyrics
My one desire is to have You close
To openly dwell within the light You love to
To open up my heart and give my all to You
Your presence means everything to me
My one desire is to have You close
To openly dwell within the light You love to
To open up my heart and give my all to You
Your presence means everything to me
Holy spirit come come
Holy spirit come come
Holy spirit come come
Invade this place
Holy spirit come come
Holy spirit come come
Holy spirit come come
Invade this place
My body shall be Your temple
A dwelling place for Your presence
That You will fill me completely
I want a fresh encounter with Your spirit
My body shall be Your temple
A dwelling place for Your presence
That You will fill me completely
I want a fresh encounter with Your spirit
Holy spirit come come
Holy spirit come come
Holy spirit come come
Invade this place
Holy spirit come come
Holy spirit come come
Holy spirit come come
Invade this place
There is none like You sweet Jesus
There is none like You sweet Jesus
There is none like You sweet Jesus
There is none like You sweet Jesus
I love You adore You
Only You are worthy oh Lord
I love You adore You
Only You are worthy oh Lord
I love You adore You
Only You are worthy oh Lord
I am Yours You are mine
You are my father I am Your son
I will love You all the days of my life
I am Yours You are mine
You are my father I am Your son
I will love You all the days of my life
My spirit cry of You
I receive Your love in me
My spirit cry of You
I receive Your love in me
All I want is You
All I want is You
All I need is You
All I need is You
Come and meet me here
Come and meet me here, Jesus!
All I want is You
All I want is You
All I need is You
All I need is You
Come and meet me here
Come and meet me here, Jesus!
My spirit cry of You
I receive Your love in me
My spirit cry of You
I receive Your love in me

Meaning & Inspiration
I’ve been thinking about the line where it says my body is a temple for His presence. It really hits home because Paul talks about that so clearly to the church in Corinth, telling them their bodies aren’t their own anymore because the Spirit actually lives inside them. It’s a heavy, good thought—that the God of the universe isn’t just hanging around out there somewhere, but He’s chosen to inhabit us. But then the song keeps asking the Spirit to come and invade the place, and I find myself stopping to ask if that makes sense. If He’s already dwelling in me, why am I constantly begging Him to show up?
I suppose it’s like the way we say we need more of Him even when we’re already sealed by the Spirit. Maybe it’s not about Him missing, but about me being way too distracted to notice He’s been there all along. Still, using a word like "invade" feels a bit intense. It sounds like someone trying to break in, but the God I read about in the Gospels is more like a guest who waits to be invited or a Father who is already right there waiting for the son to look up.
When it moves into that part about being His son and Him being the Father, it feels so grounded. It feels like the adoption stuff in Romans, that confidence that we really belong to Him. That’s the part that sticks. It’s hard to reconcile the casual way we sing about Him coming down with the reality that He never actually leaves. Is asking Him to "come" just a way to express a hunger I have, or am I accidentally implying that He’s absent? I don't know, maybe it’s just the only way I know how to talk when I feel far away from something I know is supposed to be close.
