Meaning & Inspiration
"God's Promise" by Luther Barnes is a gospel choir song about the reliability of what God has said. It opens with the claim that everything spoken in His word, every prophecy and every promise, "He will do it for you". The wording is direct and meant to be sung back by a congregation.
The verse gives a single instruction: "Only Believe, and you will see." The choir answers with "He'll work things out for you", so the song moves between a lead voice that urges trust and a group that confirms it.
The closing chorus is repeated, then sung faster, then lifted in pitch with a modulation. The lyrics stay on the same line, "My God will do it, For you", and each repeat adds energy rather than new content. Passages about God keeping His word, such as Numbers 23:19, match the theme without being quoted directly.

- Numbers 23:19 The verse says God does not lie and will do what He has spoken, matching the song's focus on promises kept.
