About Luther Barnes
Luther Barnes is a gospel singer, songwriter, producer, and ordained minister. He was born on March 10, 1954, in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, and is the son of the late Bishop F.C. Barnes, a gospel artist known for "Rough Side of the Mountain." Barnes earned a B.A. degree in Music Education from St. Augustine’s College in Raleigh, North Carolina. He serves as a record producer, songwriter, and lead singer for both Luther Barnes and the Sunset Jubilaires and the Red Budd Gospel Choir.
Throughout his career, Barnes has released over 28 albums. His catalog includes recordings such as "See What The Lord Has Done" (1986), "So Satisfied," "I'm Still Holding On," "It's Your Time," "You Keep On Blessing Me," "Somehow Someway," "The Favor of God" (2016), and "Look To The Hills" (2020). In recognition of his work, he received a 2005 Stellar Award for Traditional CD of the Year for "It's Your Time," a 2004 Grammy Award nomination, a 1992 Vision Award, and a Gospel Music Workshop of America (GMWA) Excellence Award. He was inducted into the International Gospel Music Hall of Fame in 2005.
Barnes was ordained into the ministry in 2006. In 2014, he founded the Restoration Worship Center in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, and continues to serve as its senior pastor. His life and career reflect a commitment to both traditional gospel music and pastoral ministry.
