Lyrics
We all have sinned
We all have come short
Of the glory of God
And as it is written
The wages of sin is death
But the gift of God is eternal life
Through Jesus Christ our Lord
God demonstrates his own love toward us
In that while we were still sinners
Christ died for us
That if you confess with your mouth
Jesus is Lord
And believe in your heart
That God raised him from the dead
You will be saved
That if you confess with your mouth
Jesus is Lord
And believe in your heart
That God raised him from the dead
You will be saved
For everyone who calls
On the name of the Lord
Will be saved
Therefore, since we have been justified through faith
We have peace with God
Through our Lord Jesus Christ
Therefore, there is now no condemnation
For those who are in Christ Jesus
For I am convinced
That neither death nor life
Neither angels nor demons
Neither the present nor the future
Nor any powers
Neither height nor depth
Nor anything else in all creation
Will be able to separate us from the love of God
Which is in Christ Jesus our Lord
Will you walk this road?
Time is growing old

Meaning & Inspiration
This Roman Road turns a sequence of passages from Romans into a compact account of sin, grace, faith, and assurance. It begins with humanity falling short of God’s glory and the contrast between sin’s wages and God’s gift of eternal life in Christ. The lyric then moves to the death of Christ for sinners and the confession of Jesus as Lord, presenting salvation as received through faith rather than earned by merit.
The later lines describe the results of that salvation: peace with God, freedom from condemnation, and security in divine love. By placing these declarations together, the song follows the evangelistic outline commonly called the Romans Road while retaining much of the biblical wording. Its final question gives the collection of passages an invitational purpose, calling for a response to the gospel it has summarized. The closing concern about time adds urgency, but the song’s central emphasis remains God’s gift in Christ and the promise attached to calling on the Lord.
