Lyrics
Verse 1
You don't have to worry
and don't you be afraid
Joy comes in the morning,
troubles they don't last a day
For there's a friend in Jesus,
who will wipe your tears away
And if your heart is broken,
just lift your hands and say Oh
Chorus (x2)
I know that I can make it
I know that I can stand
No matter what may come my way
My life is in your hands
Verse 2
With Jesus I can make it
With him I know I can stand
No matter what may come my way
My life is in your hands
So when your test and trials
They seem to let you down
All your friends and loved ones.
Are nowhere to be found
Remember there's a friend in Jesus,
who will wipe your tears away
And if your heart is broken
Just lift your hands and say
Chorus (Repeat)
Oh I know that I can make it
I know that I can stand.
No matter what may come my way
My life is in your hands
With Jesus I can take it
With him I can stand
No matter what may come my way
My life is in your hand (x3)
My life is in your hands

Meaning & Inspiration
“My Life Is in Your Hands” by Kirk Franklin is a song of comfort and trust. The first verse tells the listener not to worry or be afraid, since joy comes in the morning and troubles do not last. It points to a friend in Jesus who wipes tears away and invites those with a broken heart to lift their hands.
The chorus is the confession: “I know that I can make it, I know that I can stand, no matter what may come my way, my life is in Your hands.” The second verse speaks of tests and trials, and of friends and loved ones who seem to be nowhere to be found. It repeats the reminder that Jesus is there.
The lines are close to Psalm 30:5, Psalm 31:15 and Proverbs 18:24, on joy coming in the morning, times being in God’s hand and a friend who sticks closer than a brother. The song is warm, direct and written for a congregation or choir to sing back with a leader.
