Verse 1:
The greatest day in history, Death is beaten
You have rescued me
Sing it out Jesus is alive
The empty cross, The empty grave
Life eternal You have won the day
Shout it out Jesus is alive
He's alive
Chorus:
Oh happy day, happy day
You washed my sin away
Oh happy day, happy day
I'll never be the same
Forever I am changed
Verse 2:
When I stand, in that place
Free at last, meeting face to face
I am Yours Jesus You are mine
Endless joy, perfect peace
Earthly pain finally will cease
Celebrate Jesus is alive
He's alive
Chorus:
Oh happy day, happy day
You washed my sin away
Oh happy day, happy day
I'll never be the same OHH NO
Forever I am changed
Oh what a glorious day
What a glorious way
That You have saved me
Oh what a glorious day
What a glorious name
YEAHHH
Chorus:
Oh happy day, happy day
You washed my sin away
Oh happy day, happy day
I'll never be the same
Forever I am changed
What a glorious glorious day,
I'll never be the same

Meaning & Inspiration
Happy Day celebrates the resurrection of Jesus as the decisive victory over death and sin. The opening verse moves quickly from the cross and empty grave to the declaration that Jesus is alive. That announcement gives the chorus its joy: forgiveness has changed the singer permanently, and praise rises from rescue rather than from temporary happiness.
The second verse looks ahead to standing with Christ face to face, where freedom, peace, and joy are complete and earthly pain has ended. In this way, the song holds present salvation and future hope together. The bridge calls the means of salvation glorious and directs attention to the name of Jesus, while the repeated chorus keeps forgiveness at the center of the celebration. Its language is simple and exuberant, but its sequence is distinctly Christian: the cross is empty, the grave is empty, Christ lives, sin is washed away, and the redeemed life is changed. The happy day is therefore the day of resurrection and its continuing effect on the believer.
