Jamie Grace - Show Jesus Lyrics
Lyrics
Your smile's always shinning out
And they know what it's all about
It's not hard for them to figure out
The way you show Jesus
You know love is what they heard
And you didn't even say a word
Ain't it funny that's the way it works
When you know Jesus
Oh it's like flipping on a light switch when you're walking into this room
It's so undeniable
I gotta tell you that I like the way
Any time anywhere any place
It's written all over your face
The way you love Jesus
And it always speaks to me
A little joy with a touch of peace
It's so inspiring
The way you show Jesus
So gimme that gimme that
And show me that show me that
Oh gimme that gimme that
The way you show Jesus
When I'm feeling down on my luck
When life's hard and times get tough
You're right there to pick me up
When you bring Jesus
Cause every now and then
We all need a really good friend
You're always one of them
When you show Jesus
And oh it's like flipping on a light switch when you're walking into this room
It's so unmistakable
I gotta tell you that I like the way
Any time anywhere any place
It's written all over your face
The way you love Jesus
And it always speaks to me
A little joy with a touch of peace
It's so inspiring
The way you show Jesus
So gimme that gimme that
And show me that show me that
Oh gimme that gimme that
The way you show Jesus
Oh it's like flipping on a light switch when you're walking into this room
You're so unmistakable
And oh show up any time of day you could never get here too soon
You're so unbelievable you're so unbelievable
Just gimme that gimme that
And show me that show me that
Oh gimme that gimme that
The way you show the way you show him
I gotta tell you that I'm liking the way
Any time anywhere any place
It's written all over your face
The way you love Jesus
And it always speaks to me
A little joy with a touch of peace
It's so inspiring
The way you show Jesus
So gimme that gimme that
And show me that show me that
Oh gimme that gimme that
The way you show Jesus
So gimme that gimme that
Hey show me that show me that
Oh gimme that gimme that
The way you show Jesus

Meaning & Inspiration
There is a specific, somewhat jarring line in Jamie Grace’s "The Way You Show Jesus" that catches me off guard every time I read it: "It’s written all over your face."
It sounds like a cliché we might find on a needlepoint pillow or a greeting card. We use the phrase to describe someone who clearly loves their partner, or perhaps someone who is obviously angry. It implies that the interior state of a human being has leaked out and become a legible, external fact. But when we apply this to the concept of "showing Jesus," the stakes shift.
If we take this literally, it suggests that the divine can be mapped onto human geography—the creases by the eyes, the tension in the jaw, the curve of a smile. It borders on the uncomfortable. Can holiness really be that legible? We like to think that faith is a private, complex architecture hidden behind the ribs. To suggest it is "written all over your face" implies that there is no hiding, no private enclave left for us. It turns the believer into a document, a piece of parchment that everyone else is reading while we go about our day.
But then, I look at the New Testament, and I keep landing on the account of Stephen in Acts 6. When he is brought before the council, the text notes, "All who sat in the council saw that his face was like the face of an angel." It wasn't that he was doing something "spiritual"—he was standing in the middle of a trial, facing his own death. Yet, the physical manifestation of his proximity to God was undeniable to the observers.
There’s a tension here that Grace’s song doesn’t quite solve, and I’m not sure it should. On one hand, the idea that we can "show" Jesus through our demeanor risks turning faith into a performance—a "light switch" we flip on to be inspiring to those around us. If my face is the evidence, what happens on the days when my face looks like exhaustion or irritation? Do I stop "showing" Him?
Yet, there is something deeply vulnerable about the request, "Gimme that, gimme that." It’s a messy, hungry plea. We aren't asking for theology; we are asking to witness an embodiment of peace that survives the grind of a Tuesday.
Maybe the "writing" on the face isn't about being perfect. Maybe it’s simply the residue of someone who has spent enough time in the Presence that the light reflects off them, like moonlight on water. It’s not the moon's light, but you can’t look at the glow without knowing where it comes from. I’m left wondering if we are actually capable of being that clear, or if we spend most of our time smudging the ink. It’s an unfinished thought, really—the struggle to be an honest reflection while knowing we are essentially broken glass.
