Recover is a song of restoration for someone who has fallen and nearly given up hope. The verses name failure, bad choices, wounds, disappointment, rejection and depression, and each is met with a statement of survival such as "I may be wounded but I'm not broken." The line about crying until hope seemed dead, then being convinced to try once more, ties the recovery to God's faithfulness.
