Lyrics
Verse 1
I could search all this world
I’d still find there is no one like You
I could gain everything
In the end all is lost without You
Pre-Chorus
Oh Jesus all that I desire
Chorus
I want to know You
I want to know You
I want to know You
And be known by You
I’m gonna love You
Give all my heart to You
I want to know You
And be known by You
Verse 2
I am whole I’m complete
I’m content just to stay in this place
All my guilt all my shame
Washed away in Your river of grace
Pre-Chorus
Oh Jesus all that I desire
Chorus (Repeat)
I want to know You
I want to know You
I want to know You
And be known by You
I’m gonna love You
Give all my heart to You
I want to know You
And be known by You
Bridge
My devotion my affection
All my worship
I pour it out
I pour it out on You

Meaning & Inspiration
“Known by You” by Gateway Worship is a prayer of desire for God himself above everything else. The first verse says the singer could search the whole world and find no one like Jesus, and could gain everything yet lose it all without Him. The pre-chorus names the longing: “Oh Jesus all that I desire.”
The chorus repeats “I want to know You” and then turns it into a two-way relationship: “And be known by You.” It adds a promise to love Him and give all the heart. The second verse describes being whole and content, with guilt and shame washed away in a river of grace. The bridge ends with devotion, affection, and worship poured out.
The themes are close to Philippians 3:8-10, where Paul counts all things loss for knowing Christ, Galatians 4:9 on being known by God, and Mark 14:3 on pouring out an offering of worship. The song is a simple prayer of devotion.
