Lyrics
[Verse 1]
Goodbye my friend, my race is run
The setting of my earthly sun
Don't weep for me when I am gone
My Savior called and I'm moving on
[Verse 2]
You may stand beside my grave
Thinking death has won the day
But listen close, hear what I say
Jesus Christ has made a way
This old body may lie down
Beneath the dirt and broken ground
But my soul will not be found
Among the dead when heaven sounds
Calls me upward to my crown
[Verse 3]
I have trusted in the Lord
Believed His everlasting word
The cross was where my debt was paid
The empty tomb is why I'm saved
[Chorus]
So I'm going home
I'm on my way to the promised land
Because I'm saved by the nail-scarred hands
I'll be standing there singing praise
To the King of Glory through endless days
I pray you'll make it, I pray you won't stray
Keep your eyes on Jesus, don't wander away
Because I'm going home
And there I'm going to stay
[Verse 4]
This world is filled with pain and tears
Heartaches, troubles, doubts, and fears
But every storm will disappear
When I see my Savior standing near
[Verse 5]
He rescued me from sin and shame
Called me by my very name
Nothing in this world could ever be
Greater than His grace on me
[Verse 6]
The road was rough, the nights were long
Yet He was faithful all along
When I was weak, He made me strong
Now heaven is my final song
[Bridge]
The battle's fought, the victory won
I hear Him say, "My child, come home"
No more sorrow, no more pain
No more loss and no more rain
[Chorus]
So I'm going home
I'm on my way to the promised land
Because I'm saved by the nail-scarred hands
I'll be standing there singing praise
To the King of Glory through endless days
I pray you'll make it, I pray you won't stray
Keep your eyes on Jesus, don't wander away
Because I'm going home
And there I'm going to stay
[Verse 7]
For God so loved this fallen world
He gave His one and only Son
Whoever believes will never die
But live forever in the sky
The gates of pearl will open wide
The Lamb of God will be my guide
The angels sing around the throne
And soon I'll join their heavenly song
[Bridge]
No tears will fall
No night will come
No fear remains, the war is won
Forevermore I'll testify
Jesus lives and so will I
[Chorus]
Yes, I'm going home
I'm on my way to the promised land
Because I'm saved by the nail-scarred hands
I'll be standing there singing praise
To the King of Glory through endless days
I pray you'll make it, I pray you won't stray
Keep your eyes on Jesus, don't wander away
Because I'm going home
And there I'm going to stay
[Outro]
Give your heart to Jesus, don't turn away
Because I'm going home
And there I'm going to stay
So goodbye for now my friend
This is not where life will end
If you trust the Risen Son
Then one day we will meet again
Around God's throne we'll sing His praise
Forever and forever our song will raise
I'm leaving now, but hear me say
I'm going home
And there I'm going to stay
I'm going home
And there I'm going to stay
