Lyrics
This ya one is the original
Before creation of Adam and Eve
There has been a mystical conspiracy of love
From the Father up above
Satan's on the loose he's trying to deceive
Anyone who would believe in this great mystery of love
From Zion up above
Well it's a matter of the heart
For God is love and love is of God, ey
Some people know not what they've got
'Cause if you know not love
Then you know not God
And if you know not God
Then you know not love
Original love straight from creation

Some boys call it love but lust is what they mean
Gratifying their flesh, satisfying their greeds
Emptiness is the seed that produce rootless trees

No matter how them do them never satisfied
For your life is empty without the Almighty, eh
Well it's a matter of the heart, yeah oh

Meaning & Inspiration
Christafari’s Original Love contrasts God’s love with lust, deception, fear, and hatred. The song traces divine love back before human creation and presents it as inseparable from knowing God. Its reggae phrasing and repeated refrain carry a serious theological claim: love originates in God, gives life meaning, and becomes a way of resisting destructive desires.
Several lines closely echo the language of First John, especially the confession that God is love and that a person who does not love does not know God. The warning about the lust of the flesh and the eyes also reflects that letter’s description of worldly desire. Later, the lyric turns toward the cross, portraying Christ’s death as the clearest display of love and an answer to fear and hate. Praise, divine presence, and the Savior’s love therefore belong together, with received love flowing outward as faithful action.
