“Jesus on My Mind” by B.J. Thomas is a country gospel song about staying calm because of where the mind is fixed. The first verse sees dark clouds coming that will try to rain on the singer, yet says he is as happy as can be. The second verse sees a giant in the path, a mighty threat, and says he is not the least bit afraid.
The chorus gives the reason: just because he has Jesus on his mind. When the situation looks grim, he stops and turns his thoughts to Him, and before long everything is fine. The wording is simple and cheerful, and it presents faith as a habit of attention more than a feeling.
