2nd Chapter of Acts was formed by siblings Annie Herring, Nelly Greisen, and Matthew Ward in the early 1970s. The trio began performing together after Nelly and Matthew moved in with their older sister Annie and her husband, Buck Herring, following the death of their parents. They became recognized for their intricate three-part vocal harmonies, and their music was categorized as Jesus music and contemporary Christian music. The group was active from 1972 until 1988.
Among their most well-known songs are "Easter Song," "Jesus Is," and "I'm So Happy." Their discography includes the albums With Footnotes (1974), In the Volume of the Book (1975), Mansion Builder (1978), The Roar of Love (1980), and Hymns (1986). Buck Herring served as the group’s producer and recording engineer.
In 1987, 2nd Chapter of Acts received a Dove Award for Best Praise and Worship Album of the Year for Hymns. The group was inducted into the Gospel Music Association’s Gospel Music Hall of Fame in 1999.
