Lyrics
Come thou fount of every blessing
Tune my heart to sing Thy praise
Streams of mercy never ceasing
Call for songs of loudest praise
Be Thou my Vision, O Lord of my heart
Naught be all else to me, save that Thou art
Teach me some melodious sonnet
Sung by flaming tongues above
Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light
I need Thee every hour, most gracious Lord
No tender voice like Thine can peace afford
How marvelous, how wonderful
And my song shall ever be
How marvelous, how wonderful
Is my Savior's love
Amazing grace, how sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me
I once was lost, but now I am found
Was blind, but now
This is my story, this is my song
Praising my Savior all the day long
I need Thee, oh, I need Thee
Every hour I need Thee
Oh, bless me now, my Savior
I come to Thee

Meaning & Inspiration
“Hymns Medley” gathers lines from several familiar hymns into one confession of dependence, praise, and saving grace. “Come Thou Fount” asks for a heart tuned to praise; “Be Thou My Vision” places God above every competing desire; and “I Need Thee Every Hour” admits the need for divine presence and peace. The sequence then moves through wonder at the Savior’s love, the testimony of “Amazing Grace,” and the daily praise expressed in “Blessed Assurance.”
Though each excerpt has its own imagery, the medley is held together by worship directed toward Christ. Mercy is described as an unceasing stream, grace finds the lost and gives sight, and the Savior becomes the source of blessing and confidence. The request for God to remain the singer’s vision recalls the biblical call to set the mind on things above, while the language of being lost and found closely echoes Jesus’ parables in Luke 15. The result is a compact summary of Christian devotion shaped by need, gratitude, and praise.
