About Matt Papa
Matt Papa is an American contemporary Christian music singer, songwriter, hymn writer, author, and worship leader. Known for his work in modern hymn writing, he has often collaborated with songwriter Matt Boswell and the organization Getty Music. His music and ministry have been shaped by a deep commitment to blending theological richness with congregational song.
Papa has served as a worship leader at The Summit Church in Raleigh, North Carolina, and as an artist-in-residence at Marco Presbyterian Church in Florida. In 2009, his album Your Kingdom Come reached No. 46 on the Billboard Top Christian Albums chart. He later released the EP Church Songs in 2016 and the album His Mercy Is More: The Hymns of Matt Boswell and Matt Papa in 2019. That album and its title song, “His Mercy Is More,” each earned Dove Award nominations in 2020 for Inspirational Album of the Year and Inspirational Recorded Song of the Year, respectively. Other original songs in his catalog include “Christ the Sure and Steady Anchor,” “Come Behold the Wondrous Mystery,” and “Psalm 150.”
In addition to his music, Papa published the book Look and Live in 2014. He served as an artist-in-residence at Cedarville University for the 2021–22 academic year, and his hymnal project continued with Almost Home – The Hymns Of Matt Boswell And Matt Papa (Vol. 2) in 2021. Papa and his wife, Lauren, have five children.
