Verse 1
You speak from heaven
We call it thunder
You are amazing, You are amazing
You smile from heaven
We call it rainbow
You are amazing
You light from heaven
We call it sunshine
That is amazing
And You made me in your likeness
So amazing

You are amazing God
You are amazing
You are amazing God
You amaze me

Your eyes are full of love
And it is overwhelming
Pour it down on me
And your evident presence
All over blowing as the wind
Ooh oh oooh

You are amazing
You are amazing God
You amaze me

Meaning & Inspiration
“Amazing God” by Dunsin Oyekan is a short worship song that finds God’s greatness in ordinary things. The first verse links what the speaker sees to the One who sends it: when God speaks from heaven, people call it thunder; when He smiles, they call it a rainbow; and when He lights from heaven, they call it sunshine. Each image ends with the same word, “amazing.”
The verse also says that God made the singer in His likeness, so that wonder in creation turns into wonder about being known and made by Him. The chorus then speaks to God directly: “You are amazing God, You amaze me.”
The second verse moves from nature to love and presence, describing God’s eyes as full of love, asking that it be poured out, and picturing His presence blowing like the wind. The ideas are close to Psalm 19:1, Genesis 1:26-27 and Genesis 9:13. The song is a simple, repeated act of adoration.
