Lyrics
Verse 1
Mahali pa raha ya moyo wapi?
Anikingiaye mabaya ndani.
Dunia haina makimbilio
Nisposhindwa na makosa yangu
Chorus
Sipo sipo hapa sipo
Mbinguni ni ngome ya raha yangu.
Verse 2
Iache dunia ione kombe
Unapofurahishwa moyo wapi
Ni yerusalemu pazuri inapojengwa
Na mawe mazuri ya dhahabu
Chorus (Repeat)
Ndipo ndipo, ndipo ngome
ya makimbilio ya moyo wangu
Verse 3
Angani mwa Yesu ni raha ajabu
Hakuna makosa na shida Huko
Vinubi sauti na nyimbo nzuri
Outro
Raha raha raha tamu
Mbinguni kwa Yesu naitamani

Meaning & Inspiration
“Mahali Pa Raha” by Abiudi Misholi is a Swahili song about heaven as the place of true rest. The title means “the place of rest.” It opens by asking where the heart can find rest and protection, and answers that the world has no refuge. The refrain says “Sipo hapa,” I am not here, and calls heaven the fortress of the singer’s rest, which is close to Hebrews 13:14, where believers seek the city to come.
The second verse describes the new Jerusalem, a beautiful city built with fine stones and gold, a picture drawn from Revelation 21:18-21. The chorus returns to it as the fortress of refuge for the heart. The third verse says that in the heavens with Jesus there is wonderful rest, with no faults or troubles, and with harps, voices, and beautiful songs, which recalls Revelation 14:2 and Revelation 21:4.
The ending is a longing for sweet rest in heaven with Jesus. The song’s message is that the heart’s true rest is found with Christ, and it offers comfort to those who feel they do not belong in this world.
