Lyrics
Verse 1
I know how hard it is to love me
And I know that's why everybody left me
Hm, I'm not easy to love
I'm not easy to love
Chorus
But it's only you, my Lord
Hm, who's ever loved me with an everlasting love
Because of you, my Lord
Hm, your endless love has carried me this far
Oh, it's only you, my Lord
Who's ever loved me with an everlasting love
Because of you, my Lord
Hm, your endless love has carried me this far
Your endless love
Has carried me this far
Verse 2
I've made mistakes that I wish I could undo
I've hurt some hearts and I've been hurting too
I've tried to find love in so many places
But every road left me needing your graces
I've run away when I should've stayed
I've lost my way, but you never changed
When everyone else turned and walked away
You were still there calling out my name
Chorus
It's only you, my Lord
Hm, who's ever loved me with an everlasting love
Because of you, my Lord
Hm, your endless love has carried me this far
Oh, it's only you, my Lord
Who's ever loved me with an everlasting love
Because of you, my Lord
Hm, your endless love has carried me this far
Your endless love
Has carried me this far
Hm, who's ever loved me with an everlasting love
Because of you, my Lord
Hm, your endless love has carried me this far
Outro
I know how hard it is to love me

I'm not easy to love

Meaning & Inspiration
Everlasting Love is a song of gratitude for God's love that stays when others leave. The first verse admits being hard to love and that everyone left, and the chorus answers that only the Lord has ever loved with an everlasting love, and that His endless love has carried the singer this far. The second verse names mistakes, hurt given and received, love sought in many places and roads that left a need for grace.
The verse says that when others walked away, God was still there calling the singer's name. The theme comes from Jeremiah 31:3, where the Lord loves with an everlasting love, with Romans 8:38-39, Psalm 27:10 on being received when forsaken, and Isaiah 43:1 on being called by name. Honest and repetitive, the song builds from loneliness to assurance of being held by God. The outro returns to the opening admission, which leaves the song with a quiet sense of vulnerability and trust.
