Lyrics

Praise Him in the sanctuary

Praise Him with the timbrel and dance

Praise Him with the sound of a trumpet

Praise Him for His mighty acts

Praise Him for His mighty acts

Praise Him in the mighty heavens

Praise Him for His greatness to us

Praise Him with the clash of the cymbals

He alone is worthy

Praise the Lord

Let everything that hath breath

Praise Him

Let everything that hath breath

Praise the Lord

Let everything that hath breath

Praise Him

Meaning & Inspiration

“Psalm 150” builds its call to worship from the language and images of the biblical psalm named in its title. Sanctuary and heavens establish the breadth of praise, while trumpet, timbrel, dance, and cymbals give that praise movement and sound. The repeated appeal to praise God for mighty acts and greatness centers worship on who God is and what God has done.

The refrain expands the invitation to “everything that hath breath,” closely following Psalm 150:6. Its many repetitions are not a change of subject but an intensification of the same summons. Later lines add personal devotion through praise offered with all the heart and soul, language that also recalls Psalm 103:1. The song therefore moves between a universal choir and an individual confession. Both voices arrive at the same conclusion: God alone is worthy, and every living breath can become an act of praise.

Related Scripture

  • Psalm 150:1-6 The song closely follows the psalm’s call to praise God with instruments and every breath.
  • Psalm 103:1 The psalm calls the whole soul to bless the Lord, matching the song’s personal praise.
