Lyrics

"God will break you to position He will break you to promote you And break you to put you in your right place But when He breaks you He doesn't hurt you, He doesn't When He breaks you He doesn't destroy you, He does it with; grace Anybody been gracefully broken? Thank You, Lord, thank You So Father tonight, we're broken before You Thank You for handling us with grace Just lift your worship right there in this moment"

All I have in these hands And multiply, God, all that I am And find my heart on the altar again Set me on fire, set me on fire Take all I have in these hands And multiply, God, all that I am And find my heart on the altar again Set me on fire, set me on fire

Here I am, God Arms wide open Pouring out my life Gracefully broken

My heart stands in awe of Your name Your mighty love stands strong to the end You will fulfil Your purpose in me You won't forsake me, You will be with me

Here I am, God Arms wide open Pouring out my life Gracefully broken Here I am, God Arms wide open Pouring out my life Gracefully broken

All to Jesus now All to Jesus now I'm holding nothing back Holding nothing back Holding nothing back I surrender, I surrender Y'all throw your hands up and sing I surrender Say I surrender, I surrender All that I am, I surrender Have Your way, use me Lord, I surrender Do Your will, it's all Your way, I surrender ,I surrender Use my life for Your glory, say I surrender all, I surrender You want to tell Him right where you are, I surrender

Oh,Your power at work in me Oh, I'm broken gracefully Oh, I'm strong when I am weak I will be free Your power at work in me I'm broken gracefully I'm strong when I am weak I will be free Your power at work in me I'm broken gracefully I'm strong when I am weak I will be free Your power at work in me I'm broken gracefully I'm strong, I'm strong I will be free

Here I am, God Arms wide open Pouring out my life Gracefully broken

Meaning & Inspiration

We all have those moments where life feels like it is shattering, and Tasha Cobbs Leonard leans hard into that reality with the track "Gracefully Broken." Found on her 25 August 2017 release Heart. Passion. Pursuit. (Deluxe Edition), this song shifts our perspective on what it means to be undone by the hands of a loving Father. It is easy to view hardship as an attack, but Cobbs Leonard reframes our pain through the lens of divine pruning. When she sings about God breaking us to position us, she echoes the reality found in John 15, where the vinedresser cuts back the branch so it can bear more fruit. He is not interested in our destruction; He is focused on our readiness to carry the weight of His call.

The theology here hits home when you consider the altar imagery. We often talk about surrender like it is a gentle suggestion, but biblical sacrifice is messy and consuming. When she cries out to have her heart placed on the altar again and asks to be set on fire, she is inviting the holy refining of Malachi 3. God does not use fire to burn us up; He uses it to burn away the dross so that what remains is pure gold. Being "gracefully broken" is simply the state of a person who has stopped fighting the potter’s hand. Just like Paul wrote in 2 Corinthians 12, it is in our moments of human frailty that the power of Christ actually finds the room to dwell. We are never more effective for the Kingdom than when we stop pretending we have it all together and finally admit we are nothing without His presence.

The bridge of the song brings us to that crucial paradox of the Christian life, asserting that we are strong when we are weak. It sounds like foolishness to the world, but it is the bedrock of our faith. We spend so much energy trying to maintain our own image or reputation, but this track calls us to open our hands and let go of the control we never really had in the first place. You cannot be filled by the Spirit if your hands are still gripping your own plans. Real freedom happens when you drop the armor, stop the posturing, and let God handle you with the grace He bought on the cross. True worship is not about how loud you can sing when things are easy, but about how much of yourself you are willing to leave behind on that altar. Give Him your whole life, let Him do the breaking, and watch how He turns your surrendered mess into a display of His infinite glory.
