Passion - I've Witnessed It Lyrics

Lyrics

Verse 1
When I was lost and all alone
Your presence was where I found home
You were there and You're here right now

Verse 2
In every high and every low
You never left me without hope
You were good and You're good right now

Chorus
I've witnessed Your faithfulness
I've seen You breathe life within
So I'll pour out my praise again
You're worthy, God you're worthy of all of it
Your promises never fail
I've got stories I'll live to tell
So I'll pour out my praise again
You're worthy, God you're worthy of all of it

Verse 3
You left the throne and chose the cross
Laid down Your life to rescue us
The savior then, the savior now

Verse 4
But even death was not the end
You conquered hell so I could live
Resurrecting then, resurrecting now
Resurrecting then, resurrecting now

Chorus
I've witnessed Your faithfulness
I've seen You breathe life within
So I'll pour out my praise again
You're worthy, God you're worthy of all of it
Your promises never fail
I've got stories I'll live to tell
So I'll pour out my praise again
You're worthy, God you're worthy of all of it

Bridge
You're good and I've witnessed it
You're strong and I've witnessed it
You're constant, I've witnessed it
And I'm confident I'll see it again
You love and I've witnessed it
You heal and I've witnessed it
You save and I've witnessed it
And I'm confident I'll see it again
You're good and I've witnessed it
You're strong and I've witnessed it
You're constant, I've witnessed it
And I'm confident I'll see it again
You love and I've witnessed it
You heal and I've witnessed it
You save and I've witnessed it
And I'm confident I'll see it again

Chorus
I've witnessed Your faithfulness
I've seen You breathe life within
So I'll pour out my praise again
You're worthy, God you're worthy of all of it
Your promises never fail
I've got stories I'll live to tell
So I'll pour out my praise again
You're worthy, God you're worthy of all of it

Bridge
To the broken I've witnessed it
To the hurt and I've witnessed it
To the lost I will witness it
I promise I'll tell them what I've witnessed
To my family I've witnessed it
To my city I've witnessed it
To the nation I've witnessed it
I promise, I'll tell them what I've witnessed

Chorus
I've witnessed Your faithfulness
I've seen You breathe life within
So I'll pour out my praise again
You're worthy, God you're worthy of all of it
Your promises never fail
I've got stories I'll live to tell
So I'll pour out my praise again
You're worthy, God you're worthy of all of it

Meaning & Inspiration

I’ve been stuck on the way this song talks about witnessing God’s faithfulness. It’s funny, because the word "witness" shows up so much in the Bible, like when the apostles are told they’d be witnesses in Jerusalem and to the ends of the earth. It makes me stop and wonder if I’m actually doing that, or if I’m just singing about it. The lyrics mention Him leaving the throne to choose the cross, and that part hits hard because it’s the core of everything. If He really did that, then the claim that He’s "the savior then, the savior now" isn't just a catchy line; it’s the only reason I’m still standing when life gets heavy.

But then I start thinking about the bridge, where it lists all these things—that He’s good, strong, constant—and says, "I’ve witnessed it." It makes me pause. Do I really see Him as constant when things in my own life feel like they’re falling apart? It’s easy to sing when everything is bright, but the Bible says He is the same yesterday, today, and forever, and the song leans into that, which feels solid. It reminds me of the psalmist who would constantly bring up the things God had done in the past to help him trust for the future. It’s a habit of looking back so you don't lose heart when the road ahead looks uncertain.

I’m wrestling with the idea of my own testimony, though. The song ends by saying "I promise I'll tell them what I've witnessed," and that feels like a heavy weight to carry. Is it a promise to God, or just an overflow of what He’s done? I’m not sure. Sometimes I think we make these bold declarations in music, but living them out is where the real grit happens. If I say I’ve witnessed His healing or His saving, does my actual day-to-day look like someone who believes that? It’s a lot easier to sing about it in a room full of people than it is to hold onto that truth when you’re quiet and alone with your own doubts. I want it to be true, and I think the song is trying to point me toward the cross as the anchor for it all, but I’m still trying to figure out if I’m actually living like the resurrection is as real as the lyrics say it is.
