Passion - Holy Ground - Show Us Your Glory Lyrics
Lyrics
Here as we wait
Seek Your face
Come and make Your throne upon our praise
Here in this place
Have Your way
The moment that we see You we are changed
Show us Your glory
Show us Your glory
In wonder and surrender we fall down
Show us Your glory
Show us Your glory
Let every burning heart be holy ground
Here, not by power
Not by might
But only by the cross we come alive
Here, we're undone
Overcome
By heaven’s love revealed before our eyes
Show us Your glory
Show us Your glory
In wonder and surrender we fall down
Show us Your glory
Show us Your glory
Let every burning heart be holy ground
Chains fall
Fear bow
Here, now
Jesus, You change everything
Lives healed
Hope found
Here, now
Jesus, You change everything
Show us Your glory
Show us Your glory
In wonder and surrender we fall down
Show us Your glory
Show us Your glory
Let every burning heart be holy ground

Meaning & Inspiration
I’ve been thinking about the part where they sing about needing to see His glory to make a heart holy ground. It makes me stop and wonder if that’s really how it works. Moses asked to see God’s glory, and he had to hide in the cleft of the rock because no one can see God’s face and live, right? So when the song asks for that, is it asking for a vision or just asking to feel His presence in the room? It feels like we’re trying to recreate that burning bush moment, but the bush was holy because God was there, not because of the bush itself. It’s like the song is trying to invite that same weight into our worship, which I get, because if He really shows up, things have to change.
I do like how it pivots back to the cross when it mentions it’s not by power or might. That feels so anchored in Zechariah, and it’s a necessary check, because otherwise, it could just turn into a search for an emotional high. Without that mention of the cross, the desire for glory could just be us wanting a show, but tethering it to Christ’s work makes it feel like it’s actually about Him. Still, I’m left wrestling with the idea of a "burning heart" becoming holy ground. Is my heart holy because I’m experiencing Him, or is it holy because He’s already made it His home? Sometimes I wonder if we spend too much time begging for a moment of glory instead of realizing the Spirit is already living in the middle of our mess. I don't know, maybe the asking is the point. Maybe it’s just about being willing to be undone, like the lyrics say. But it makes me nervous to think that we have the power to turn ourselves into holy ground just by asking to see Him, when the only reason we can even stand in His presence is because of what He finished, not because of what we feel in that moment.
