Meaning & Inspiration
“Lord, I Need You” by Lauren Daigle is a prayer of dependence. The first verse comes with a confession and finds rest in bowing, saying that without God the singer falls apart and that He is the One who guides the heart. The chorus repeats the need, “every hour I need You,” and names Him as “my one defense, my righteousness.” That wording is close to Psalm 62:6, where God alone is rock, salvation, and fortress.
The second verse reflects on grace: “Where sin runs deep, Your grace is more,” a line that closely follows Romans 5:20. The verse continues that where grace is found, God is there, and where He is, the singer is free, with “Christ in me” as the source of holiness, a phrase close to Colossians 1:27.
