Meaning & Inspiration
More Of You is a song of longing for more of God. The opening says that each time the singer thinks God is figured out, a new shade of beautiful appears, and each time the relationship seems as close as it can be, it grows further. The chorus says the more that is seen, the more of Him is needed, begging for a little more.
The second verse compares an ocean of stars in the sky to the way He shines and says that without Him the singer would be helpless, since He promised that the singer is His. A later section likens the need to the air breathed and says there will never be enough, though more is wanted. The longing recalls Psalm 63:1, Philippians 3:10 and Psalm 42:1-2, while the glory beyond the stars fits Psalm 8:3-4. Repetition makes it a simple prayer of hunger for God.
