Praise you with all my heart

Meaning & Inspiration

“Hallelujah” by Joe Mettle opens with titles of God: “You are the Mighty God, You are the Great I am, Lord there is none like You.” A refrain in another language, “Moko bɛ ni ta mɔ bo,” repeats throughout, while the English lines carry the message. The pre-chorus praises God who does not change, whose Word remains, and promises praise with all the heart.

The chorus invites everyone to sing and shout Hallelujah. The second verse turns to testimony: the singer says God turned life around and brought darkness into light, so that now the singer can testify. The bridge addresses Jehovah and says there is none like Him, adding “Nobody, I say nobody.”

The themes are close to Isaiah 9:6 on the Mighty God, Exodus 3:14 on the Great I Am, Malachi 3:6 on God not changing, and 1 Peter 2:9 on being brought out of darkness into light. The song is a joyful call to praise built on God’s character and personal testimony.
