James Wilson - Able To Do Anything Lyrics
Lyrics
You can do anything
When we take limits off You
You are God You are able
You can do anything
When we take limits off You
You are God You are able
You are able to do anything
We will not be shaken
We will not be moved
Even in the trial
We're gonna trust in You
Standing on Your promise
The just shall live by faith
You can do anything
When we take limits off You
You are God You are able
Oh oh oh oh
You can do anything
When we take limits off You
You are God You are able
You are able to do anything
So we will praise You in advance
Like the victory is here
Knowing that You are not a man
That You would lie
If You say victory will come
By faith we believe it's done
We receive it, we receive it
You can do anything
When we take limits off You
You are God You are able
You are able to do anything

Able to Do Anything
Meaning & Inspiration
I kept hearing that line about taking the limits off God, and honestly, it’s been bothering me a little. The song says it over and over, like our belief is what finally gives Him the permission to act. It feels like a stretch, you know? When I look at Ephesians 3:20, it says He is able to do far more than we can ask or even imagine, but that power doesn't seem to depend on my limited capacity to trust or my own mental boundaries. If God is who He says He is—the one who spoke everything into existence out of nothing—does He really need me to remove limits? He is sovereign whether I recognize it or not.
But then, the song turns toward the promise that the just shall live by faith, and that hits closer to home. It’s hard to stay steady when the trial actually shows up. I think about the way James mentions God isn't a man that He should lie. That’s rooted in Numbers 23:19, and it’s a solid rock to stand on when things get shaky. It’s comforting to focus on His character, the fact that He isn't fickle like us.
Still, I’m left wondering about that "praising in advance" part. It sounds good in the moment, and I want that kind of boldness, but I worry about turning faith into a transaction where I have to force myself to feel like it’s done just to get God to move. Is it really about my belief unlocking His ability, or is it more about the fact that He’s already God regardless of what I’m doing? I want to believe He’s able, but I get nervous when the weight of the outcome feels like it’s resting on my ability to remove my own doubts first. Maybe the limit isn't on Him at all, but on how I see Him.
