Lyrics
I'm rich. I'm free,
I want to tell the world that I'm happy,
I got Jesus, (right here) right here in my heart.
I'm alive and living,
All because I'm forgiven,
I got Jesus, (right here) right here in my heart.
Now if you want real joy within your life,
And you want to be free from care and strife,
Then give your heart to Him today,
He'll show you the only way.
To be rich and free,
and so completely happy,
You'll have Jesus, (right here) right here in your heart.
Come along with me,
Let's tell the world why we're happy,
We got Jesus, (right here) right here in our hearts.
Let's sing and shout,
Let's tell them what it's all about,
We got Jesus, (right here) right here in our hearts.
And if you want real joy and peace of mind,
It won't be long 'til they will find that Jesus is the only way,
To find real happiness today.
They'll be rich and free,
and so completely happy,
They'll have Jesus right here in their hearts.
I got Jesus, (right here) right here in my heart,
I got Jesus, (right here) right here in my heart.

Meaning & Inspiration
“I Got Jesus Right Here in My Heart” celebrates spiritual abundance as freedom, forgiveness, joy, and peace rooted in Christ rather than material wealth. The opening first-person confession describes a life made alive and happy because sin has been forgiven. As the lyric progresses, that private assurance becomes public witness: one joyful voice invites others to join in telling the world about Jesus. The repeated phrase about Christ being in the heart gives the song a simple, memorable center.
The promise of genuine freedom aligns with John 8:36, where freedom comes through the Son. Its connection between Jesus and peace may also be read alongside Romans 5:1, which speaks of peace with God through Christ. The image of Christ present within a believer recalls Galatians 2:20. Together, those themes present happiness not as an escape from every difficulty but as the result of reconciliation and belonging. The song’s communal turn extends that good news outward, making shared praise and invitation natural responses to grace.
