Meaning & Inspiration
Awaken My Faith is a prayer for spiritual renewal. The first verse calls on the living God for a fresh anointing, asking Him to breathe on a broken offering and promising to pour out the very best at His feet. The chorus asks Him to awaken faith with vision and wonder and to revive the singer and stir the singer from slumber.
The second verse says the soul longs for holy passion, asks Him to move the heart to burn for Him again, and prays for the Spirit to fan the flame. The bridge claims what He has promised, saying that He will not forsake what He has begun, that He will finish everything He started, and that revival will be alive again in the singer. The themes follow Habakkuk 3:2 on asking the Lord to revive His work, Philippians 1:6 on God completing the good work begun, and Psalm 85:6 on asking God to revive His people. The steady build and repeated chorus give the song a hungry, expectant tone.
