Lyrics
Verse 1
In every season, in every change
You are near
In every sorrow, You are my strength
You are near
Pre-Chorus
A peace in the storm
Your voice I will follow
In weakness, I rise
Remembering You hold my world
Chorus
I'm holding on to hope
I'm holding on to grace
I'm fully letting go
I'm surrendered to Your ways
The anchor for my soul
Father, You will never change
I love You, I love You
Verse 2
My great Redeemer, my constant Friend
You are near
My faithful Father, You took me in
You are near
Pre-Chorus
A peace in the storm
Your voice I will follow
In weakness, I rise
Remembering You hold my world
Chorus
I'm holding on to hope
I'm holding on to grace
I'm fully letting go
I'm surrendered to Your ways
The anchor for my soul
Father, You will never change
I love You, I love You
I'm holding on to hope
I'm holding on to grace
I'm fully letting go
I'm surrendered to Your ways
The anchor for my soul
Father, You will never change
I love You, I love You

Meaning & Inspiration
Anchor is a worship song about holding onto hope while God stays near. The verses say that in every change and in every sorrow the Lord is near, a strength and a friend, a Redeemer and a faithful Father who took the singer in. The pre-chorus speaks of peace in the storm, a voice to follow, and rising in weakness while remembering that He holds the world.
The chorus is a resolve to hold on to hope and grace, to let go fully and stay surrendered to His ways, because He is the anchor for the soul and the Father who never changes. The bridge adds a vow to remember His promise forever and names Him Strength, Defender, Savior, Hope and Shelter. The themes follow Hebrews 6:19 on hope as an anchor, Malachi 3:6 on a God who does not change, and Psalm 18:2 on God as rock and shelter. The slow build and repeated chorus give the song a calm, trusting tone.
