About VeggieTales
VeggieTales is an American Christian CGI-animated series and multimedia franchise created by Phil Vischer and Mike Nawrocki, developed with the goal of teaching Biblical values and Christian moral themes to a child audience. The franchise was launched in 1993 under Big Idea Entertainment. It features anthropomorphic vegetables, including Bob the Tomato and Larry the Cucumber, who retell Bible stories and present life lessons from a biblical worldview.
Music has been a central element of VeggieTales from the beginning. Kurt Heinecke served as the music director for the series for approximately twenty-five years. The franchise’s first music release was the album VeggieTunes in 1995. Original songs such as the “VeggieTales Theme Song,” “The Water Buffalo Song,” “The Hairbrush Song,” and “His Cheeseburger” quickly became part of the series’ identity. The music library draws from original compositions, parodies, and covers of Christian music.
Over the years, VeggieTales has released a number of themed albums, including Bob & Larry’s Sunday Morning Songs (2002), Fruit of the Spirit Songs (2021), and 15 Praise and Worship Songs (2026). The franchise has achieved significant commercial reach, with more than seven million music CDs sold and over 235 million music streams. Through its blend of entertainment and faith-based content, VeggieTales has built a lasting music catalog that continues to reach families and children.
