About Starfield
Starfield is a Canadian Christian music group formed in Winnipeg, Manitoba, in 2001. The band was founded by brothers Tim Neufeld (vocals, guitar) and Jon Neufeld (guitar, vocals). The group’s name was inspired by the 1976 Bruce Cockburn song “Lord of the Starfields.” The band’s stated vision is “To lift up Jesus so he is impossible to ignore.”
Before signing with Sparrow Records, Starfield released two independent albums. Their major label debut, Starfield, arrived in 2004. The band followed with the albums Beauty in the Broken (2006), I Will Go (2008), and The Saving One (2010). Their catalog also includes songs such as “Filled With Your Glory,” “Reign In Us,” and “The Saving One.” The group transitioned to independent releases beginning with their 2012 album, The Kingdom.
The band members have served as worship leaders and partnered with various church ministries. Over the course of their career, Starfield won multiple GMA Canada Covenant Awards and received four Juno Award nominations. They also received the Prairie Music Award for best Christian album. Following a period of activity that ended around 2014, the core members pursued separate ministry and musical projects.
