About Ntokozo Mbambo
Ntokozo Mbambo is a South African gospel singer, songwriter, and minister. Born on November 6, 1985, in Umlazi, South Africa, she began her professional music career at age fifteen as a member and lead singer of the gospel group Joyous Celebration. She later departed from the group in 2011 to pursue a solo career.
Alongside her music, Mbambo pursued higher education, earning a degree in Information Technology programming and a Bachelor of Education in English Language and Literature and Social Sciences. She married music producer Nqubeko Mbatha on May 17, 2008. Her television experience includes serving as a judge on the gospel reality competition I Want to Sing Gospel in 2014 and on Idols SA season 17 in 2021.
Mbambo released her debut studio album, Bambelela, in 2001. Her 2012 album Filled was certified Double Platinum in South Africa. She has continued to release albums, including Spirit and Life (2015), which features the song “Jehovah Is Your Name,” as well as Moments in Time (2018), The First Noël (2020), Lavish Worship (2023), and Makabongwe: The Sound of Revival (2023). At the 29th South African Music Awards in 2023, she took home three trophies: Best Female Artist of the Year, Album of the Year, and Best Contemporary Faith Album for Lavish Worship. That same year, she received a Lifetime Honorary Award at the Praise Achievement Awards and won Best Gospel Artist at the Basadi in Music Awards.
