About Marcos Witt
Marcos Witt (born Jonathan Mark Witt Holder on May 19, 1962) is an American Christian singer, songwriter, and pastor who has spent much of his career creating Spanish-language worship music. Born in San Antonio, Texas, he was raised in Durango, Mexico, where his parents served as missionaries. He studied classical music at the University of Juárez in Durango and later earned a theology degree at the International Bible College in San Antonio.
In 1986, Witt founded the record label CanZion Producciones, and in 1994 he established the CanZion Institute to train worship leaders and music ministers. His musical career began in the 1980s, and he has recorded more than thirty albums. Among his releases are Canción a Dios (1986), Sana Nuestra Tierra (2003), Recordando Otra Vez (2004), Dios es Bueno (2006), Alegría (2006), 25 Concierto Conmemorativo (2011), Viviré (2021), and Legado (2025).
Witt’s work has been recognized with six Latin Grammy Awards for Best Christian Album (Spanish Language) between 2003 and 2025. He also received a Latin Billboard Award for Best Christian/Gospel Album of the Year for Alegría in 2007. In addition to his recording career, Witt has served as a pastor for the Spanish-speaking congregation at Lakewood Church in Houston, Texas.
